Methodology Research
The Methodology Research (MRP) programme includes research on methods development to underpin the biomedical sciences, experimental medicine, clinical trials, population health sciences, health services research and health policy.
Who it's for:
The programme funds investigator-led and needs-led research proposals from across the UK. The minimum formal qualification required is a graduate degree, though it would normally be expected that an applicant have a PhD.
Funding:
The research grant can be awarded for any period of up to five years, but those of two years or less are for proof of principle or pilot work only. All proposals anticipating expenditure greater than £1.2 million should be discussed with the Programme Manager before submission.
Process:
Applicants need to submit outline proposals before making full proposals. Feedback will be given on the outline to help applicants improve the quality of the subsequent full proposal.
Criteria:
Applications will be judged on the following criteria:
- Importance - are important questions or gaps in knowledge being addressed
- Scientific potential - prospects for good scientific progress
- Value for money
