Physical Environment Research
The NHS Physical Environment Research programme aims to improve the patient environment in primary and secondary healthcare sectors.
- improving the way NHS property and facilities are managed and maintained
- promoting safe, high quality and best value design in the healthcare environment
Who it's for:
Proposals and bids are welcome from the NHS, companies, consultancies and academic institutions.
Funding:
The total fund available is £420,000 - there is no upper or lower limit but the project must demonstrate value for money.
Process:
There is a call on a quarterly basis for applications and panel meetings are held 4 months after submission deadlines. All applications must include a project plan and a none page CV on each named applicant.
Criteria:
All proposals should demonstrate:
- collaboration between professionals, institutions or services
- clear patient benefit
- economic analysis of key findings
Areas of special interest:
Research proposals in the following areas with an overarching interest in sustainability and economic benefit are encouraged:
- Infection control
- Decontamination
- Environments for older people
- Space and Design
- Mental health & learning disabilities
- Strategy for the physical environment
